The Lions take on the Highlanders in Dunedin
So the Lions stepped out with expectations high. A strong performance against the Crusaders meant all to play for and with the first test looming, points to be proven. To say the performance was lacking would be an understatement, handling errors, missed tackle count and the always key penalty count all too high to stand any chance of recording a win against the might of the All-Blacks.
In terms of positives, there weren't many, Courtney Lawes looked strong before being taken off injured, Biggar had a good game but with the competitiveness at 10, too little too late would probably sum up the performance. The back three struggled leaving huge question marks over what the make up should look like come June 24th and few of fringe players did anything to plead a case for test inclusion - perhaps with the exception of CJ Stander.
So we'll keep this short and instead look forward to next Saturday against the Maori, but not before we give a quick shout out to our very own Kyle Sinkler, who look dangerous with ball in hand and was unlucky to be blamed for a poor pass that in our opinion (whilst not perfect) was more than adequate and should have been taken. Great hands, great pace - keep up the good work.
